Arsenal, just a few days back from training, lift the Community Shield after beating Liverpool 5-4 on penalties.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang buried the winning spot-kick after Rhian Brewster missed his take for Liverpool, and it’s another trophy for Mikel Arteta.
Here’s how it happened:
Arsenal 1-0 Liverpool (Aubameyang, 12)
In the blink of an eye, Arsenal were in front and it was thanks to their main man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang!
The striker was picked out well by Bukayo Saka and he was afforded far too much time and space by Neco Williams on the right.
He then cut onto his right foot and curled the ball beautifully into the bottom corner!
Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool (Minamino, 73)
There was a little bit of good fortune with the way the ball ricocheted into Minamino’s path but he made no mistake in tucking home his first goal for the club.
Wijnaldum and Fabinho combined well before Mane found Salah and the loose ball was then finished off by Minamino.
Due to the 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, the match had to be settled by penalties.
