In a now-deleted tweet, FIFA claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is the only man to have won league titles in Italy, Spain, and England, but his Juventus teammate Danilo was quick to hit back on this.
35-year-old Ronaldo celebrated his second Serie A title after the Bianconeri beat Sampdoria 2-0 on Sunday night, and FIFA went on Twitter to congratulate him, but they were wrong with their claim, as Danilo quickly hit back to remind them that he too has won league titles in those three countries.
The deleted tweet read: “10 goals in 10 games since the resumption of @SerieA_EN has helped @Cristiano become a multiple-time league champion in England, Spain & Italy.
“No other player has even won all 3 leagues once. The country doesn’t matter when you’re from another planet.”
Danilo responded with a host of thinking face emojis as if to remind the federation that their comment was incorrect.
Why is Danilo right?
Danilo, actually, has league titles from more European countries than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Brazilian picked up his first Serie A title this season, helped Manchester City win back-to-back Premier League titles, collected a LaLiga medal with Ronaldo in 2016-17, and won two Primeira Liga crowns with Porto.
