Just recently, Karim Benzema asked on his Instagram stories if Paul Pogba’s brother Florentin Pogba plays football because he had never heard of him, and it seems he is taking no hostages in his digs, with his pop at France international Olivier Giroud.
According to Benzema, there is absolutely no comparison between the two.
“You don’t confuse F1 with go-karting. And I’m being kind. Next … and I know I’m F1.
“It works because he’s there. That’s all. It’s not going to be spectacular, it’s not going to be anything crazy but in his way, you see more of a (Antoine) Griezmann or (Kylian) Mbappe because he will put the work in.
“Does everyone like that way of playing? I don’t know.”
Benzema was speaking in an Instagram live video with French actor and comedian Thomas N’Gijol.
Benzema has not featured for his national team since 2015 following an arrest for the alleged blackmailing of teammate Mathieu Valbuena, and he is still visibly hurt by the omission.
The 32-year-old Los Blancos striker has 81 caps and 27 goals for the French team, while Chelsea’s Giroud boasts of 97 caps and 39 goals, plus a World Cup.
Giroud is also France’s third-highest goalscorer of all-time
