Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski feels he deserved the 2020 Ballon d’Or award.
The striker scored an incredible 55 goals in 47 appearances, and was miles ahead of the rest as the Germans won a treble, including the Champions League crown.
He was the clear favourite to claim the prestigious award, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the France Football to suspend this year’s plans.
In an interview with a Polish outlet, Sportowe Fakty, the strike was asked whom he would have given the 2019/20 Ballon d’Or to, and his response;
“We won everything we could with Bayern. In every competition: Bundesliga, German Cup, and Champions League, I was the top scorer. I understand that the pressure of other parties on another player may be greater. But it’s not like every footballer would win the Golden Ball by achieving what I do?” he added.
The Polish striker could, however, get a consolation if he wins FIFA’s ‘The Best’ award, but it won’t be the famous Ballon d’Or.
